Extraordinary customer service sometimes comes where and when you least expect it

No offense to the mega-retail world, but I usually don’t expect to get stellar customer service at a national department store (let alone this time of year). But this week I was very pleasantly surprised, and the experience was so refreshing that I felt it worthy of a post.

The other night our dishwasher gave up the ghost after many years and several repairs, and we decided it wasn’t worth another service call. I did some online research, but being impulsive, I decided to call our local Sears store (about an hour before closing)  to see what they had to say. I figured I’d get the usual “yeah, um, we got a bunch of washers, the, um, Kenmores  are pretty good and we got ‘em on sale. You know, they’re all pretty good, you know, it depends what you want.”
